Every table on this page is 35 or 36 cm wide, measured across the widest point. That puts them in a gap most ranges skip: of the 262 bedside tables in our height study, 39 are 30 cm wide and 71 are 40 cm wide, but only 12 are exactly 35 cm and 7 are 36 cm. If 30 cm feels too small and 40 cm does not go in, this is the size you are looking for. Check the width on each table before you choose: the 36 cm models need 1 cm more space than the 35 cm ones.

The range covers solid mango wood with drawers or open shelves, three wall-mounted pieces in oak (as listed), and wall-mounted shelves that leave the floor clear. Every product lists its depth and height in centimetres, because at the same width they vary a lot.

Will a 35 cm bedside table fit?

Measure from the side of the bed frame to the wall, at the height of the table top. A 35 cm table needs at least 35 cm; we would leave 2 cm on each side, so 39 cm. On the headboard wall, a double bed (135 cm) with a 35 cm table on each side takes 205 cm, a king (150 cm) 220 cm and a super king (180 cm) 250 cm. What fits on the top

A lamp base is usually 12 to 18 cm across, a paperback about 13 cm and a glass about 9 cm. A small lamp, a book and a glass in a row add up to 34 cm, so 35 cm takes all three, with no room to spare. On 30 cm, one of them has to go in front.

Depth and height

In the 262 tables, the most common 35 cm footprint is 35 × 30 cm, and the median height of the 35 to 36 cm tables is 50 cm, lower than the 57 cm median for all widths. Match the top of your mattress within about 5 cm; the height guide explains how to measure.

Is a 36 cm bedside table suitable for a 35 cm gap?

No. A 36 cm table is 1 cm wider than a 35 cm gap, so it will not go in. The tables on this page are 35 or 36 cm wide, and each one needs about 2 cm more than its width so the drawer opens and your hand reaches in.
