Bedside tables UK, every size in cm
Mango Wood Bedside Tables
Every bedside table on this page has a solid mango wood body, all the way through. A few add another material where you can see it: a brass-plated drawer front, a woven rattan top, a woven drawer panel or a marble top. Not board with a printed wood finish, not veneer over chipboard. Mango is a dense hardwood with a visible, irregular grain, and each piece takes stain differently, which is why two tables from the same range are never quite identical. If you want a wooden bedside table that is real wood rather than a wood-effect finish, these are it. Whether you call them mango wood bedside cabinets, bedside tables or side tables, the wood is the same.

Why mango wood
Mango is a hardwood as hard as teak and close to English oak: a Janka hardness of 1,070 lbf and an average dried weight of 675 kg/m³, according to the Wood Database. It takes stain well, which is why the same wood comes here in chestnut, light, walnut and near-black finishes, and its grain is open enough to show the difference. The chestnut and California walnut ones are together in dark wood bedside tables. The full figures, with the comparison to oak, teak, walnut and pine, are in our guide what is mango wood?
What it means in practice
| Solid mango | Board with printed finish | |
|---|---|---|
| Grain | different on every piece | a printed pattern |
| Edges | solid through | edge banding over the board |
| A deep scratch | wood all the way through | shows the board underneath |
Weight is not a reliable test: our 45 cm mango tables weigh 6 to 21.5 kg, and the 45 cm engineered wood ones 10 to 14 kg. Look for the material on the product page instead; each of ours states it.
Looking after it
No care instructions are published for these tables, so we do not invent any. One point follows from the wood itself: solid wood moves as it dries, so stand the table a few centimetres away from a radiator rather than against it. Mango is rated from moderately durable to perishable outdoors, so it is for indoor use only.
Every one is measured
Each table here shows its width, depth and height in centimetres, on the card. For the wall-mounted pieces the height given is the height of the carcass, because a table that hangs has the height you fix it at, not a height of its own. If your gap is tight, start with the narrow range, which goes down to 20 cm wide. If you need a specific height, the height guide has the floor to mattress figures for each common UK bed type.

Comparing these with a table from another shop? Our guide to solid wood or MDF explains what "solid", "veneer", "engineered wood" and "walnut finish" mean on a listing, and why weight will not tell them apart.
21 of the tables here arrive fully assembled, according to their specifications; they are grouped, with four in oak, in our ready assembled bedside tables.
Questions
Is mango wood good for furniture?
For indoor furniture, yes. It is about as hard as teak and English oak and takes a finish well. Its limits are damp and the outdoors: the Wood Database rates it from moderately durable to perishable and prone to fungal and insect attack.
Is mango wood sustainable?
Mango is not listed by CITES, and it is grown so widely that the IUCN cannot assess the wild tree. The Wood Database notes that some plantations fell trees for timber once they stop bearing fruit. We have no published record of where each tree came from, so we do not claim that for any one table, and we do not claim a certification we have not seen.
Why do two tables in the same finish look different?
Mango grain can be straight or interlocked, with yellow, pink or dark streaks. A stain narrows the differences, but it does not make two pieces identical.
