Mid Century Bedside Tables
Every bedside table on this page stands on tapered, splayed or angled legs under a simple box body: the look shops call mid century or mid century modern, or, when it has drawers, a mid century bedside cabinet. There are 42, 20 to 50 cm wide, including four sets of two; single tables run from £56 to £259. Most are solid mango wood; the ones under £100 are engineered wood with a rattan panel or gold-tone legs. Each product lists its width, depth and height in centimetres.

What the price buys
Under £100, five tables in engineered wood, as listed: three with a woven rattan door, drawer front or panel, and two in white or black with fluted fronts on gold-tone legs. From £101, almost all are solid mango wood, in light, chestnut, walnut or black finishes, some with curved fronts, carved drawers, bone inlay or brass details. The exceptions are the 42 cm faceted table, which is listed simply as wood, the 40 cm rattan door cabinet, in mango wood with a woven rattan door, and the rattan effect set of two, in engineered wood with a woven panel.
Why legs
Raised legs leave the floor visible under the table, so a small bedroom looks less crowded, and the floor is easy to clean underneath. Leg length also sets the height: here, tables run from 40 cm, for a low bed, to 68.5 cm, for a tall one. Match the top of the table to the top of your mattress within about 5 cm.
